Sealants

Sealants are a plastic material applied to the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars.  These back teeth are where decay occurs the most.  Sealants act as a barrier to prevent cavities on these teeth.

Sealants are very easy and pain-free to apply.  They are “painted” on the tooth enamel, bonding directly to the tooth and hardening.  Sealants may last several years before a reapplication is needed.  Thus, they are a great way to ensure that the back teeth susceptible to cavities are protected.

X-Rays

Dental X-rays help your dentist detect damage and disease not visible during a regular dental exam.  Dental X-rays are safe, as they require very low levels of radiation exposure making the risk of potentially harmful effects very small.  Please tell the office staff if you are pregnant before any X-rays are taken.
